400 years before anyone used the word feminism, Cicely Reynolds just said “no.” Her legacy gave her descendant, Effie Phillips-Staley, the ability to do the same.

Location: Oak Tree Road overpass of the Palisades Parkway (map coordinates: 41.012087,-73.923570)
Parking: Observe road signs and be mindful to park legally; we’ we’ve been warned to keep fully off the road (all wheels to the right of the white line). I suspect it will not be appreciated for anyone to park in the Esplanade lot or on their grass; there may be better parking west of the overpass, where Oak Tree is wider, or on nearby Swan St or Horne Took Rd. Use the site’s Contact form if you have questions. - Protest at 4 Corners in Nanuet every Saturday from 12 to 1 p.m. (Usually listed on Indivisible Rockland FB group)
- In Closter: regular Saturday protest at the corner of Piermont Road and Vervalen St, 12 to 1 pm. AND Friday evenings from 5 pm to 6 pm.

- Please note that we are a loose, cooperative group of ordinary people; we have participated with the Visibility Brigade and follow their guidelines for groups; we are not part of Indivisible Rockland, have no formal affiliation with them, and are not subject to nor responsible for their administrative policies or political positions (some of which seem to divisively differ from the national organization’s leadership, which has labeled what’s going on in Gaza a genocide).

Listen up
Now that we’ve escalated beyond shooting white citizens in the face (or the back, or any target that presents itself) to threatening whole nations with nuclear annihilation, I believe some of the white citizens who have until now kept their heads in the sand, pretending this will all go away, may be realizing it’s time to take a look around. Without hyperbole, The Fourth Reich is here already (raking in the bribes and prison administration fees, plus transfer costs for “disappearing” detainees), and anyone who isn’t a rich White Christian MAGA male could suddenly end up on the wrong side of what comes next.
Clearly we need to keep speaking, and louder, so they get the message – without wishful distortion through the business-as-usual filter which has led the Democratic party on its long unfortunate scramble of rightward appeasement (often mischaracterized as “appealing to their base”). I’ll try to keep this site better updated to facilitate that process.

Morale-building
A friend asked me what on earth I’m hoping to accomplish by protesting. “Trump isn’t going to care,” he told me. This is not why we protest. We protest because the first step in fighting back is learning that we are not alone, showing others that they are not alone, and finally, uniting the many who share an abhorrence of the undemocratic, unAmerican, inhumane actions of this regime. As we can see from the dramatic nationwide trend to the left in recent elections, the criminality, chaos and cruelty of this administration is not going unnoticed, no matter how our fatally-compromised media tries to ignore and minimize.
We’re not giving up. And we will keep trying.
